About the album:
This was my first album. It was recorded at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, where I worked with producer and legendary engineer, Bob Matthews (The Grateful Dead), and the late arranger, John Kahn (bassist of The Jerry Garcia Band). The musicians on this session include Mario Cippolina on bass (Huey Lewis and The News), Donny Baldwin on drums (Jefferson Starship), Pete Sears on the keyboard (Hot Tuna, Jefferson Starship, Moon Alice), Ho Young (The John Kahn Band), and an orchestra of strings and horns.
This album was recorded in 1995 and this is the first time it will be released which is why it is aptly named "RISING; From The Vault"
This is a beautiful album of ten of my original songs with so much talent and quality in it.
John Kahn, the late arranger, after listening to the master mix with the producer, Bob Matthews, said that he could die happily knowing that he used everything he'd ever learned in his life as an arranger on this album. He died the next day. This album was played at his wake in Marin County, California which was a big gathering of the Grateful Dead Family including Maria Muldair, and the Jerry Garcia back up singers.
